Jane Cruz Lopez, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born in Edna, Texas on October 9, 1939, to the late Henry Cruz, Sr. and Elvira Pena Cruz.

Jane was a cosmetologist for over 50 years.

She loved her clients and took great pride in her work. She enjoyed spending time at the local nursing home doing hair for the patients. Jane was a devout Catholic who devoted much of her time to her church. She taught CCD for 36 years, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a Eucharistic Minister, and led a weekly rosary prayer group. Jane was a kind, giving, soul who would help people any way she could. She will be dearly missed by many.

Jane is survived by her husband of 67 years, Freddie O. Lopez; her daughters, Nancy Schaffer and Carol Love (Keith); her son Fred Lee Lopez; her grandchildren, Jon Lopez, Brandon Lopez (Julia), Brooke Lopez, Rockne Schaffer, and Alecia Gonzalez; her great-grandchildren, Paisley, Brantley, Karlee Chey, Griffin, Hollyn, Larkyn, and Hensley; brothers, Victor (Vera), Allen (Maggie), Alonzo, and Abel (Josie); sisters, Esther, Emilie (Robert), and Delia (Alex); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane is also survived by her special friends, Josie Garcia, Judy Keith, Ruby Ballin, sister-in-law Vicky Cruz, All her CCD Crew, and Rosary Prayer Group.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elvira Cruz; her son, Carlos Luis Lopez; and brothers, Henry Cruz, Jr. and Bobby Cruz.

Pallbearers were Rockne Schaffer, Jon Ryon Lopez, Brandon Lopez, Eric Cruz, James Cruz, Sammy Cruz, Alex C. Rocha, and Victor Cruz, Jr.

Services were held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna, Texas. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass began at 11 a.m.

Interment followed in the Latin American Cemetery in Edna. Father Michael Petering officiated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jane’s name to the St. Agnes CCD Education Center, 506 N. Allen St., Edna, Texas 77957 or to Houston Hospice of El Campo, 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, Texas 77437-3029 Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna.
