Annette Tise

     Annette Marie Tise was born on December 24, 1945, in Wharton County. She is the oldest child of B.F. (Frank) Tise and Sybil Marie Presley Tise. As a child she enjoyed riding horses and playing with her cousins.

     Annette attended school in Ganado Texas and graduated from High School in 1964. She attended Wharton County Junior College receiving her associate in arts degree in June of 1966. She continued her education at the University of Houston, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in June 1968 and received her Texas Teacher Certificate in Homemaking. In 1972 she received the Texas Elementary Teaching Certificate. She received her Master of Education Degree from the University of Houston and her Texas Reading Specialist Certificate in 1978.

     She started her teaching career in Eagle Lake, Texas. After several years she took a position with Rice Consolidated School District in Sheridan, Texas where she not only taught in the classroom, but she also coached the girls' basketball team. She returned home to the Ganado area and taught school for the Industrial School District until she retired ending her 35-year career as a schoolteacher.

     Always wanting to stay active, after retirement, she became a part-time mail carrier for the US Postal System delivering mail to Ganado residents.

     When her parents became ill, she provided loving care for them with strength, compassion and patience. Her love, dedication, and selflessness were an inspiration to everyone.

     As a young adult, Annette taught Sunday School and played the piano in Church for many years. While she was a teacher, she enjoyed traveling with friends in the summer in the United States and abroad.

     Annette enjoyed planning family gatherings to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. She enjoyed organizing family reunions that made everyone feel welcome. She was an avid reader and met regularly with a group of friends to discuss the latest book the group had read. She enjoyed baking and was especially known for her Texas Sheet Cake and her cookies. Annette was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed hand-embroidering and making gifts for those she loved.

     She enjoyed watching sporting events, especially those involving her nieces, nephew, and great nieces and great nephews. She attended many Junior High and High School football, volleyball and basketball games as well as dance recitals, band concerts and theatrical plays.

     However, after making her first quilts, it was apparent she had found her passion. She enjoyed visiting Quilt shops for inspiration and collaboration. She would devote her time. energy, creativity and passion to making quilts and undertook each project with a purpose to be precise and timely. She loved making quilts for her family and friends to commemorate life events. She also spent time making quilts for people in need working with a group of ladies at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna Texas.

     Annette is preceded in death by her parents B.F. and Sybil Tise. She is survived by her brothers Darrell (Evelyn) and Douglas (LaRhetta) and sister Pamela Sparks (Douglas). Nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephews and a great great nephew; Mitchell Sparks (Laura), Michelle Tise Goddard (Christian) and Emily Svoboda, Elizabeth Tise, Tara Tise Brezina (Seth) Sara Grace, Isaiah, Ike, and Asa, Melissa Tise Fowler, Kalub (Anthony), Ross, Lindsay Tise Seifert (Jeff) Kaden and Logan, Destini Tise Sablatura (Mike) Austin, Kamryn, Emersyn, Kayla, Elizabeth, Brooke, Colton and Jagger, and David Tise as well as many cousins, friends and acquaintances.

     The family will receive visitors on Saturday August 24, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Ganado Funeral Home chapel with a celebration of life to follow at 11 a.m.
