Carolyn Dean Wagstaff Kubenka was greeted at Heaven’s gates by her husband, Bruno Tony Kubenka and her parents Emmet Dean and Julia Webster Wagstaff on Monday, January 9, 2023. She entered this life on August 2, 1936, in Edna, Texas.

Her younger years were spent moving numerous times from Edna to Woodsboro and to Refugio. Carolyn’s family moved back to Edna her Junior year of high school. There she met the love of her life, Tony Kubenka. After dating for two years, they were married on March 8, 1955, at the Church of Christ in Edna. Carolyn raised five children on the farm in the rural community of Cordele. They are Tamara Carol, Debra Lynn, Tony Lionel, Cherie Elaine, and Stuart Wayne.

Being a wife and mother were her utmost joys. She loved attending church services, singing, hearing hymns sung, and

learning about God and Jesus. In her youth, her family attended church service every evening for an entire year. She possessed many talents which included being a seamstress, making floral arrangements, cooking, baking, oil painting, glass sculpting, and cake decorating.

She is well remembered by her family and friends for her hot rolls, bar-b-que sauce, Enchilada Casserole, and Taco Salad. But her favorite thing to do was to crochet for others. She made numerous quilts, scarves, dish cloths, shawls, and winter caps. Most recently she made hundreds of winter caps which she donated to cancer patients, Southbrooke Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, The Woodlands Nursing and Rehab Center and Adopt-a-Grandparent EC, and she was an excellent marksman and avid deer hunter. A quiet, loving, and humble lady whose talents touched many lives.
