Debra Sue Speer

    Debra Sue Gregory Speer passed away in her home on May 30, 2021.

    Debra was born on June 12, 1957 in Yoakum, Texas to the late Lonnie and Ruby Gregory.

    Debra married her husband Chuck in 1991 and together they have 4 sons. She was an immaculate homemaker and took great pride of living on and maintaining her family’s homeplace.

    Debra will be fondly remembered as a very generous and giving person, always taking care of anyone in need, especially family. She was passionate when it came to animals, domestic and wild, making her an avid animal lover.

    Debra is survived by her husband of 30 years, Chuck; sons, James Cunningham, Matt Speer (Emily), Kyle Speer (Sarah), and Derek Speer (Brittany); sisters, Modelle Foxell and Janice Wyman. Also, her little Chihuahua, Susie, who was always by her side.

    Debra is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne Gregory, Bobby Gregory, and Carl Klimitchek; and sisters, Hazel Anderson and Patsy Budd.

    Pallbearers were Derek Speer, Matt Speer, Kyle Speer, Jacob Hastings, Ace Gonzales, and Cody Gregory.

    Visitation service was held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas.

    Funeral services were held on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 10:00 am, also in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Salem Cemetery in Ezzell, Texas. Pastor Larry Green will be officiated.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Debra’s name may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Ave., Victoria, Texas 77901 or to St. Jude’s Children’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
