Elaine Fay Powers
Elaine Fay Powers, of Lolita, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the age of 62. She was born in Richmond, Texas on April 4, 1961, to the late Melroy Altimore and Gladys Veselka Altimore.
Elaine was a loving wife, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melroy and Gladys Altimore.
Elaine worked as a medical records coder with Oak Bend Hospital. She enjoyed participating with her co-workers and friends in team walks raising funds for a variety of causes; whenever there were fundraisers at work and the department had goals set for funds to raise, Elaine was usually the last to donate to make sure the goal was met. Elaine was known to step up to meet the needs of others, whether at work, for the Lolita Fire Department or in the community, but always behind the scenes.
She always had cats as pets and often multiple at a time. Most recently, Lilly, Pooh, and Missy received her love and attention. Over the years she cared for several feral cats that made their home in her and Keith’s backyard. Their home and yard were decorated with many plants, and when she went to farmers’ markets, she often came home with new varieties.
Elaine loved children. Her nieces, nephews and friends’ children were all very special to her.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Keith Powers; her sisters, Linda Altimore and Tammy Sangalli (Marc); nieces and nephews, Jessica McDonald (Mason), Joshua Sangalli, Dustin Powers (Kelly), Michael Powers (Amanda), and Brandon Powers (Marissa); and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Clarence Joines, Blaine Joines, Shawn Malone, Michael Malone, Jason Rosales, and John Spring.
Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Lolita Volunteer Fire Department.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas.
