Geraldine Lummus Smith
Geraldine Lummus Smith, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017. She was born in Doddridge, Ark. on May 1, 1925 to Willie Lynn Lummus and Velda Ann Moore Lummus. Geraldine and Charles Smith were married in 1963, at The First Baptist Church in Ganado, and both served in church ministries for over 50 years. They were truly friends and soul mates until Charles passed away 4 years ago, thus leaving a great void in Geraldine's life. Geraldine's life was centered around faith, family and friends. She was active at First Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Teacher and GA Leader. For over 15 years, she cheerfully enjoyed taking girls to GA Camp at the Baptist Encampment in Palacios. She also served on the boards of the Baptist Encampment and the Colorado Baptist Association. Her gifts of hospitality and service were demonstrated by hosting events in their home and she and Charles were often referred to as adopted Mom and Dad to several young Baptist pastors and their families. Geraldine was very active in the Eastern Star and served several terms as Worthy Matron and in 1996, she was Deputy Grand Matron of District 4, Section 9. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Adrian Stanley, her infant son Billy Clyde Stanley, her son Jerry Douglas Stanley, her sister, Lorene Seals, and her brother, William Lummus. She is survived by a sister, Alene Johnson, her daughter; Bobbie Anne Stanley Munford and her husband Dr. Arthur Munford, her daughter-in-law, Becky Egert, her grandchildren, Laura Munford Packard, Gary Munford, Jason Munford, Matthew Stanley, and David Stanley, great-grandchildren, Brianna Packard, Joshua Packard, Brooke Munford, Jordyn Munford, Jacob Munford, Emma Munford, Ashlyne Stanley, Pierce Stanley and Dean Stanley. Special thanks to Geraldine's devoted caregivers, Delores Tristan, Valerie Tristan, Lily Garza, Joyce Jenkins, Ninfa Hernandez, Toni Hernandez, Zona Davis, and Lyn Holster. The family received friends on Aug. 10 at The First Baptist Church of Ganado from 9-10 a.m. The funeral was at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastors Rick DuBroc and Ryan Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at Ganado Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The First Baptist Church of Ganado, or the charity of your choice. Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Ganado Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.
