Josephine Schneider
Josephine M. Elias Schneider, 84, passed away Friday, Jan.19, 2018, after a short illness. She was born in Jackson County on March 22, 1933. She worked in the dietary department at Care Inn of Edna and was dietary supervisor at Edna Hospital for many years. Josephine was also a homemaker that loved to cook, and a gardener that loved growing beautiful roses. Josephine was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and was involved in church organizations, including KJZT and Catholic Daughters. Josephine is preceded in death by her two infant sisters, parents, Henry and Lillian Elias, and her husband of 60 years, Alvin Schneider. Josephine is survived by her sons Darwin (Marsha) of Inez, Glenn (Debbie) of Ganado, and Patrick (Vicki ) of Lexington. Also surviving are her sisters Barbara Hicks of Victoria, Dorothy Stancik of Edna, Henrietta Taylor of Wilcox, Ariz., and Cynthia Horton of Garland; her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation was Sunday Jan. 21, from 5 - 7pm at the Ganado Funeral Home. Services were Monday, Jan. 22, at the Assumption Catholic Church, with a rosary being recited at 9:30 am and services at 10:00 am, with Fr. Kirby Hlavaty. Interment will follow in the Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; James, Cory, and Timothy Holub, Jay Griffin, Michael Sablatura, and Lawrence Janecek. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Nache Holub, Sherri Griffin, Brian Schneider, Chelsea, Allison and Nolan Schneider. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions can be made either to Assumption Catholic Church or Hospice of South Texas.
