Lela Jane Koenig

     Lela Jane Koenig, 88 of El Campo, passed away on August 26, 2023. She was born on November 23, 1934 in Rock Island to the late Rex Albert and Vera Hahn Shoop. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

     She is survived by her daughters Debbie Jane Richter and husband Michael of Palacios, Georgie Renee Kudelka and husband Carl of Ganado, six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Koenig, great grandsons Joshua Kudelka and Aaron Piwonka, sister Violet, half-sister Carolyn McNeely and brother Rex Allen Shoop.

     Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30 at Christ Lutheran Church in El Campo. Funeral services begin at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Clement officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

     Pallbearers are Duane Kudelka, Ryan Kudelka, David Kudelka, Michael Richter, Dustin Rutherford and Corey Kudelka. Honorary pallbearers will be Watson Kudelka, Jimmie Piwonka and Brayden Kudelka.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Lela may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
