Margie Elaine Brown Griffith

     Margie Elaine Brown Griffith was born on July 8,1936, in Grapeland, Houston County, Texas to Clifton and Goldie Brown. She was the youngest of four children. The Brown family moved to Blessing, Texas, in 1946 where Margie was a founding and lifelong member of The First Baptist Church of Blessing.

     Margie met and fell in love with Kerry (K.O./Nokie) Griffith while at a roller-skating rink in Bay City, and they married on May 18, 1955. They had 3 children: Kerry, Jr., Kevin, and Karen. 

      Margie and K.O. lived happily married in Francitas, Texas for 62.5 years, until the homegoing of K.O. in 2017. In 2018, Margie moved with Karen’s family to Edna where she was lovingly surrounded by Karen and Allen Taylor and their three daughters.

     Margie loved family time, family reunions, and family holidays. She enjoyed the company of people and always had a hug and a smile for everyone. Margie enjoyed sports of almost every kind: baseball, football, and even golf!

     Margie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 13. She was a dedicated, practicing Christian, and she taught her children to know and love the Lord. 

Margie quietly passed into the loving arms of her Savior on the morning of May 12, 2024. 

      Margie was preceded in death by her father Clifton Brown, brother Harold Brown, granddaughter Kelly Griffith, mother Goldie Brown, brother Tink Brown, and husband K.O. Griffith.

     Margie is survived by her sister, Betty Blackmer of Kirtland, New Mexico; by her children: Kerry and Carol Griffith of Edna, Kevin and Sheila Griffith of Montpellier (France), and Karen and Allen Taylor of Edna. She is survived by her grandchildren, all currently of Edna: Kyle, Kylann, and Connor Griffith; Joanna and Morgan Newman; Michelle and Stephen Woodring; and Rebekah Taylor. Margie is survived by multiple nieces and nephews and their families.

     Pallbearers were Tommy Blair, Bill Brown, James Brown, Connor Griffith, Kyle Griffith, Morgan Neuman, and Stephen Woodring.

     Graveside funeral services were  held on May 14th, 2024, at 2 p.m. at LaBauve Cemetery in Francitas, Texas. 

     Arrangements are under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. 361-782-2221.
