Marjorie Peebles Wyatt
Marjorie Wyatt, 100, of Edna, passed away on Aug. 20, 2018 peacefully at home with her son, Robert, by her side. She was born on April 4, 1918 in Alvin, Texas to robert Watson Peebles and Effie Borskey Peebles. Marjorie was a hard working and loving housewife and mother for her family and also her “church” family. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. For 50 years she helped to take care of the nursery at First Baptist Church in Alvin. She owned and operated a licensed home day care where she lovingly cared for countless children. She worked with her son Robert in his retail stores. Marjorie loved all “her” children, she loved to travel, eating out, and her family. There will never be a more loving, caring, generous mother and friend – Ever! She was also a member of Edna Presbyterian Church. Marjorie, a direct descendant of Governor William Bradford of the Plymouth Colony, is survived by her sons Robert Hayes Wyatt and Guy Dale Wyatt Jr., her two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her brother Robert Ray Peebles. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Leonard Hayes Brock-Slatten, her second husband Guy Dale Wyatt Sr., and her brother Howard Watson Peebles. There will be a graveside service at the Confederate Cemetery in Alvin at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 31. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Edna Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, P.O. Box 726, Edna, TX 77957. Services have been entrusted to Russel Todish at Slavik Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2152.
