Ola Mae Vernon
Ola Mae Vernon, 89, of Edna, passed away on Oct. 13, 2017. She was born in Edna on Dec. 28, 1927 to John Ceasar and Myrttle Haynes. Ola Mae is survived by her children, Tyler Bookman of Goodrich, Rodney Vernon and Robert Vernon Jr., of El Campo, and Karen Williams of Houston; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Minnie Ramey of Edna, Alvin Ceasar of Washington D.C., Don Thomas of Edna, Freddie Ceasar of Houston, and Randy Ceasar of Lorton, Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceeded in death by her parents, brothers John Jay, Jerry, Rufus and Billie, sister Dorothy, and children Doris Stoval and Roger Vernon. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 21 at First United Methodist Church in El Campo with the Rev. Harold Simmons officiating. Interment followed in the El Campo Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Ray Trotter, LaShawn Bellard, Oliver Ball, Troy Washington, Willie Harrell, and Cedrick Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Nickerson, Keith Wilkins, Devonte Williams, Edward Brooks, Chris Vernon, and LaWarren Vernon.
