Peggy Jean Gerjes

    Peggy Jean Gerjes, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born September 1, 1935, in Cameron County, Texas to the late Charles and Elizabeth Mae Oakes.         

    Peggy is survived by her children and stepchildren Penny Rentz, Becky Miska (Bryan), Samantha Idlett (Sam), Steven Gerjes (Lee), Nicholas Gerjes (Shelly), Bobby Gerjes (Robin), and Brenda Jacobs (Timmy), and 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dan Oakes.

    Peggy was a homemaker with a giving heart.  She was a seamstress and made clothes for many. She reupholstered furniture and loved woodworking and crafts. Some of you may have owned some of her hand-crafted yard décor. Peggy was always outside tending to her flowerbeds. She always put other’s needs before her own.

    Peggy was laid to rest on Monday, February 7, 2022. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
