Richard Jarvis James
Richard Jarvis James, of Edna, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born in Navidad, Texas on September 4, 1942, to the late RJ James and Josephine Peters James.
Richard was a retired Workers’ Comp auditor working for Travelers Insurance Company for years and had his own accounting business. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Joyce Heaton James of Edna; daughter, Michelle James and Chris Strickland of Victoria, TX; son Mark James and wife Jennifer Holt James of Edna, TX; sister Jeanette Clark (Walter) of Weatherford, TX; brother, John Michael James (Barbara) of Edna; and grandchildren, Taylor Hamilton, Cheyenne Hamilton, Tyler James and Melanie James.
He is preceded in death by parents and a sister JoAnn Jager.
Pallbearers are Tyler James, Chris Strickland, Charles Heaton, Clarence Joines, Donald McNabb and John Saltzgiver.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. all in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Vanderbilt, Texas.
Interment to follow in Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita, Texas. Father Johnson Owusu-Boateng will officiate.
