Richard made his way to South Texas as a young man by way of serving in the Air Force. After his service, he worked for ALCOA as an engineer for over 35 years. His career took him to Kingston, Jamaica, Palestine, Texas, San Paolo, Brazil, and Point Comfort, Texas. After retirement, he consulted for G &W Engineers, Inc. He was a loving father and Christian, who would always reach out to help others in need. His joys included reunions with his family up north, genealogy, woodworking, trips to Lake Tahoe, reffing basketball, reading, cheering on the Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns, and spoiling his dog Chloe. He will be remembered by his daughters by his radiant smile, quick wit, advice, stubbornness, laugh, best chili in the world, and above all, his love.
A private graveside memorial will be held in coordination with Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, TX. A very special thank you to all who supported Richard at the DeTar Cancer Center in Victoria, Texas. The family asks that in remembrance of Richard, please consider donating blood/plasma to your local Blood Bank Organization.
