Robert G. “Rusty” Jerkins

     Robert G. “Rusty” Jerkins, 74, passed away on Saturday, August 12, after an extended illness in a nursing home in Boone, N.C. with his best friend by his side. He was born on September 12, 1948 in Ganado, TX to Monroe G and Eula Mae Donahue Jerkins. 

     He graduated from Edna High School, 1966. He played lead guitar in local bands and enjoyed riding his motorcycle with friends, worked as a small engine mechanic, and enjoyed working on computers. All his nieces and nephews called him the “fun uncle.” He was kind and caring to all of them. Always interested in what was going on in their lives.

     The last few years he spent his retirement in the mountains, in West Jefferson, NC spending time with family and going to garage sales and resale shops looking for old items.

     Rusty is survived by his sister, Jorene Hadley of LaWard, brother, Dennis R Jerkins of El Campo, and nieces and nephews.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Loyce, Donna Trail, and Dana Jerkins, brothers, M. Delton Jerkins and Richard Anderson.

     A private family burial will be held in Memory Gardens of Edna.
