Rose Marie Buchanan

Rose Marie Buchanan, 80, born on November 2, 1938, passed away, on Saturday, March 31, 2019, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Marie, as known by family and friends, is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pearl Buentello, her husband Larry J Buchanan and her daughter Valorie Watson.     She was a wife, mother, homemaker, rancher, and worked in sales and marketing for a few years.     After her husbands’ death in 1994, Marie developed a passion to manage the acreage and the cattle that they had purchased. She enjoyed ranching and supporting her family the remainder of her life.     She is survived by her children, Larry Joe Buchanan Jr. and Barbara, Jacqueline Garner and Calvin, and Wesley Buchanan and Janice; her nine grandchildren, Kenny Watson, Dominique Digregorio, Kevin Murphree, Brittany Murphree, Joe Blake Buchanan, Megan Buchanan, Jacob Schmidt, Christina Andrews, and Lydia Rabon; and her 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving friend and companion, Jimmy Rogers of Edna.     Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., on Thursday, April 4, in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.     Pallbearers will be Joe Blake Buchanan, Kevin Murphy, Kenny Watson, Jacob Schmidt, Phil Rabon, and John Rodgers.     Arrangements under the direction of Oaklawn Funeral Home, Edna, 361-782-2221.
