William Blanton Holmes, Jr.

     William Blanton Holmes, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2021 at the age of 93.

    He was born August 11, 1927 in Longstreet, Louisiana to William Blanton Holmes, Sr. and Nelwyn Yarbrough.

    William was a retired oilfield worker with Sun Oil Co., having worked in Premont, TX, for 35 years.

    After retirement, he and his wife, Jean, moved to Katy, TX. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.

    William is survived by his daughters, Deborah Saunders and husband Randy of Katy, Texas, and Jan McClanahan and husband Joe of Edna, Texas; granddaughter, Judy McClanahan Paulette; grandsons, Ryan Saunders and Matthew Saunders; and 4 great-grandchildren.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nelwyn Holmes; wife of 62 years, Jean Litton Holmes, and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Blankenship.

    Pallbearers will be Randy Saunders, Ryan Saunders, Matthew Saunders, Charlie Paulette, Joe McClanahan.

    Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11:00 am, in Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita, Texas. Brother Joe McClanahan will be officiating.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in William’s name may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
