With realignment happening just before the start of the school year, all three Jackson County schools now belong to the same district in both boys and girls basketball. Edna and Industrial are joined by Ganado, Hallettsville, Bloomington, Columbus, Rice Consolidated, and Schulenburg.
The new alignment brings a bunch of teams into the same district that made the playoffs last year. With the boys, of the new eight team district, everyone except Rice Consolidated and Columbus made the playoffs, and Columbus was a fifth place finisher as a 4A team last season. Schulenburg made the deepest run of any of the boys team in the district, making it to the quarterfinal round.
The Cowboys had a 9-1 district record and won the district crown last season, but fell to Schulenburg in the bi-district round. Edna brings back seven seniors to the squad this season.
