Cowboys lock up playoff spot, now in first place

With a 60-51 victory over the Industrial Cobras last night, the Edna Cowboys seemed to keep pace with the district leading Columbus Cardinals, however, a great night for the Cowboys got even better.
A two-win Yoakum team won over Tidehaven last night and, coupled with the Cowboy victory, Edna locked up a playoff spot.
But it gets even better.
On Friday, Industrial knocked off Columbus, giving the Cardinals their first district loss and moving them only a half-game in front of Edna. (Columbus has played one more district game, and has one more victory than Edna.) Last night, Hallettsville, who is still fighting for a playoff spot themselves, downed Columbus, which moved the Cowboys a half-game ahead of the Cardinals.
Behind Columbus (9-2) are the Cobras, who at 7-3 are in great position to grab a playoff spot too. On Friday, Industrial travels to Hallettsville for a game very important to both teams. The Brahmas are sitting in fourth place at 6-4, two games in front of Tidehaven (4-6) with four games to go.
Tidehaven faces Columbus on Friday. If the Cobras are able to take down Hallettsville, and Columbus defeats Tidehaven (which they easily should) the Cobras will also lock up a playoff spot. After the Brahmas, the Cobras finish the regular season facing Rice, Tidehaven and Yoakum.
Edna will face Rice and then Yoakum, and will finish the season against Columbus and Hallettsville. If Edna wins out, Columbus can not catch them. If Edna loses one game, but defeats Columbus, they will finish with the same record and one head-to-head win. If Edna loses only the game to Columbus, they will finish with the same record, but Columbus will have won both head-to-head match-ups and will take the district crown.
The Ganado Indians have had a decent district run, and still control their own destiny, but have an uphill climb.
The Indians (3-5) have winnable games against Weimar (2-7) and Bloomington (0-9) before they finish their season hosting third place Shiner (5-3) and at district leading Flatonia (9-0).
Ganado currently sits in a tie for the final playoff spot.
