Fifteen pitches

“Watch me rock this.”
At most baseball scrimmages, when the game gets into the later innings, a coach may put in a pitcher on the cusp of making the varsity team to see what he will do. Or the coach might want to get in some extra work in for a prime pitcher.
But when Jace Muncrief took the mound during the last inning of the Edna Cowboys scrimmage, it meant a lot more than just showing his coach how well he could pitch.
During the football season, Muncrief was injured in a collision with another player. The injury was so severe, that while at the hospital, one of the doctors warned Jace’s parents, Shannon and Kelly Muncrief, that Jace may lose his leg.
