Growing pains and crazy games

Young teams will often go through growing pains as they gain playing experience facing teams full of upperclassmen. But if the Maidens offense stays on fire and the pitching and defense catches up, they will be a team other teams may fear facing. After falling to Palacios 22-17 on Feb. 20 in a non-conference game, Ganado played an even crazier game against Flatonia to open up district play and won by one run, 27-26.
The Bulldogs jumped on the board early by scoring six runs in the top of the first. The Maidens were able to answer back with four of their own in the bottom of the first, but then Flatonia started pulling away.
Trailing 17-4 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, the possibility of having a run-ruled shortened game was looming for Ganado. But if that had happened, the crazy game would’ve just went down as another loss in the books. Instead, the Maidens exploded for 11 runs and suddenly it was a ball game again.
