Jackson County baseball playoff possibilities
3A baseball
Yoakum 12-0 - District champs
Hallettsville 9-3
Columbus 8-4
Tidehaven 8-4
Industrial 7-5
Edna 2-10
Rice 2-10
Palacios 0-12
There are two games remaining in the 3A baseball season. Right now Industrial is on the outside looking in, one game behind the final playoff spot. The Cobras still have a chance, however, as their final two games are against teams they are chasing, Columbus and Hallettsville. In the first round of district play, Hallettsville defeated the Cobras 12-9 and Columbus won 5-4.
In the final two games Yoakum will face Hallettsville and Tidehaven, Hallettsville will face Yoakum and Industrial, Columbus will play Industrial and Rice, and Tidehaven will play Edna and Yoakum. Edna finishes against Tidehaven and Palacios.
2A baseball
Shiner 10-0
Flatonia 8-3
Ganado 6-4
Schulenburg 6-4
Weimar 5-5
Louise and Yorktown have been eliminated from playoff contention.
The Indians will finish their season hosting Flatonia on Friday, Apr. 22 then at Shiner the following Tuesday. Flatonia only has the game against Ganado remaining because Moulton did not field a team this year, and that would have been Flatonia’s final game of the year. Shiner will face Yorktown and Schulenburg. Schulenburg will face Shiner and Weimar, and Weimar will play Yorktown and Schulenburg.
Ganado has two really tough game to go but Schulenburg and Weimar still have to face each other. If Schulenburg wins that game, the worst the Indians could do is finish tied for the final playoff spot. If the Indians win either of their last two games, and Weimar wins both, again it would finish in a tie. After Friday, the playoff picture should be much clearer.
